Can you restore an old gurdy?
Often, yes. We restore old and tired instruments to play, keeping as much of the original as we sensibly can. We will assess it and advise.
Can you dress and true the wheel?
Yes. We true, dress and rosin the wheel so it runs smooth and the strings sing.
Can you set up the keys?
Yes. We set up and adjust the keys and tangents so the instrument plays in tune across the row.
How do we get started?
Ask us to look at your gurdy or visit the workshop. We assess it, advise and give you a clear price before any work.
Do you build new hurdy-gurdies?
Yes. We build wheel fiddles by hand, made to play evenly. Tell us what you have in mind and we will advise and prepare a quote.
Can you cure buzzes and cracks?
Usually, yes. Buzzes, cracks and tired parts can often be put right. Show us the gurdy and we will advise.
